Former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan has once again taken a swipe at Birmingham ahead of their Second City derby clash with Aston Villa on Sunday.

Jordan is never one to shy away from airing his opinions, and he has constantly shown animosity towards the Blues while constantly bigging up Villa.

Ahead of the derby at St. Andrew's this weekend, the ex-Palace chief has taken shots at Blues' position in the Championship and compared it to that of Villa's.

"Absolutely I’m pleased to see Aston Villa moving in the right direction and Birmingham moving towards a derby with Walsall," he said on his personal Twitter account.

Villa are currently fifth in the table and can potentially move up to fourth with a win against Birmingham this weekend to further strengthen their promotion bid.

There were calls for Steve Bruce to be sacked in early September, but the ex-Blues boss has masterminded a brilliant turn around in form that has seen the Villains surge up the table.

Birmingham are floundering in 21st place in the standings, just one point clear of the relegation zone after Steve Cotterill has struggled to turn things around since taking control from Harry Redknapp.

Blues have come close to relegation to League One in the past few years, and Jordan seems to be backing them to have that West Midlands derby clash with third-tier side Walsall in a years' time.
