Simon Jordan: This is why key Everton man would join Tottenham

By Amir Mir

Simon Jordan has stated on Twitter why Everton manager Ronald Koeman would want to join Tottenham.

The former Crystal Palace chairman believes Spurs’ new stadium and Champions League football would persuade the Dutchman to join the north London club.

Furthermore, Jordan also believes Tottenham’s ability to keep hold of their star striker would also play a part.

Koeman has been a key figure for the Toffees during this campaign, helping them fight for a European place after their poor season under Roberto Martinez last season.

By contract, under Mauricio Pochettino Spurs are currently sitting second in the Premier League table after the Argentine had guided them to a CL finish last term.

When an Everton supporter asked Jordan why Koeman would make the switch to the London club, this was his response.

“New stadium imminent,” Jordan wrote on his personal Twitter account. “They have been playing Champions League football in recent times and can keep hold of their top striker.”

Both Koeman and Pochettino started their managerial careers in England’s top flight with Southampton.

Former Barcelona centre-back Koeman left the Hampshire-based club last summer after guiding the Saints to Europa League football.

Now, he is looking to do the same with Everton who take on their Merseyside neighbours Liverpool on Saturday afternoon.

Koeman’s side are currently sixth in the table on 50 points from their 29 matches, six points behind fourth-placed Liverpool and a further nine points behind Spurs who have a game in hand.

With the international break now over, Pochettino will be preparing his team for a tough away trip to Burnley on Saturday.

In other Tottenham news, Martin Keown believes this 23-year-old joining Spurs will stall his career.
