Moussa Sissoko has tweeted a story in which he says he hopes to leave Newcastle this summer.

Newcastle set a huge £35million price tag on Sissoko in the wake of his display in the Euro 2016 final and he has attracted interest from big clubs across Europe.

The So Foot article Sissoko tweeted to his 242,000 followers includes the France international saying that the north-east club are "open" to letting him leave and his agent is in discussions to line up a more "exclusive" club.

Sissoko said he is inundated with interest and negotiations are ongoing with his agent.

“I still hope to have the chance to join a more exclusive club. Now we are negotiating with Newcastle. My agent has had discussions with the club. They are open to a departure,” Sissoko told So Foot Mercato. “We are in discussions. We'll see what happens.

"Yes, some clubs have come. A lot of clubs. Now, I expect and hope it will lead to something good. They discussed with the club, with my agent. We'll see what happens.

"I know what I want. Where shall I go? I do not know yet. There are discussions that are ongoing with the leaders, with my agent. The best decision we take. All clubs are advanced. We'll see."

Asked specifically about the interest from Real Madrid, Sissoko strongly suggested the Spanish giants had made an approach.

“Who would not be flattered," he told So Foot. "Real Madrid is one or the best clubs in the world. For now, I am still a Newcastle player. I wait. And if it's Real Madrid, so much the better.

The attacking midfielder is contracted with the Toon giants until June 2019, but has made it clear he prefers an immediate move back to topflight football rather than fighting for promotion in the Championship next season.

The France international was the outstanding player for his team in the latter stages of Euro 2016, in which they lost 1-0 to Portugal in the final.

Sissoko was absent from the Magpies team that began their Championship campaign with a shock 1-0 defeat to Fulham on Friday night.
