Sky Sports presenter Jim White has risked the ire of Celtic fans by saying that Brendan Rodgers would be “wasting his time” by spending another year in Scotland.
White was referring to the story that was reported in the Daily Mail on Monday night that said that Arsenal were considering Arsene Wenger’s position at the end of the season and had drawn up a shortlist of candidates.
They claim that Monaco boss Leonardo Jardim, Germany manager Joachim Low, Manchester City coach Mikel Arteta are all on the shortlist.
But White picked up on the other name on the shortlist, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers.
In a tweet that he put out to promote his Tuesday morning show on talkSPORT White said that Rodgers would be the ‘perfect fit’ for Arsenal and that Rodgers would be “literally wasting his time” by staying in Scotland for another year.
Reports this morning that Brendan Rodgers is one of the leading candidates to replace Arsene Wenger @Arsenal this summer. I think it's the perfect fit. Surely Brendan would literally be wasting his time by staying another year in Scotland? Join the debate from 10 @talkSPORT

In the show on talkSPORT (Tuesday, 10am), White re-iterated his position but said that it wasn’t just him getting at Celtic fans.
“This is nothing to do with getting at Celtic fans, it’s not me putting my Rangers hat on, no.
“Surely he’d be the perfect? He’s done everything, won everything in Scotland.”
