Sky: Rangers receive huge up front bid for Morelos, player keen to leave over wages after talks

Rangers have received a bid of £7m up front for striker Alfredo Morelos and the player is “keen” to leave with the two clubs in talks, according to a report.
Sky Sport claimed on their transfer blog (14.05) that Chinese club Chinese Super League club Guangzhou Evergrande are the club that want Morelos and are putting serious money behind their interest.
Sky also claim that Morelos is not one of Rangers best paid players and the Colombian is said to be “keen” on a move that would prove more lucrative.
The Daily Express reported earlier that Rangers had received a bid of £6million plus add-ons but there’s no confirmation whether the £7m is a fresh bid or not.
Talking to STV, Rangers manager Graeme Murty confirmed that a bid had been made but that it hadn’t reached their valuation yet.
“Talks are ongoing. They haven’t met our valuation, they haven’t met our requirement for what we want in terms of our squad and as it goes on we will still look at Alfredo as our number one centre forward.
“We’ve brought Jason [Cummings] in to support him and we have Eduardo [Herrera] as well. We have to safeguard the positive feeling around the squad and make a positive football decision.”
Football Insider verdict:
This is picking up pace after reports first surfaced this morning. £7million is a lot for a player that Rangers only signed in the summer for just over £1million. However, it’s been a fantastic window so far and this seriously risks taking the shine off. With just one day to go before the transfer deadline slams shut, Murty doesn’t have a lot of time to find a replacement for a striker who’s scored 11 goals in 22 Premiership games. Murty himself said that Cummings had been brought in to support Morelos so you’d think he would need to buy another striker if he wants to let Morelos go. The further complication is the new claim that Morelos himself is keen on a move as he’s not one of Rangers’ best paid players. That could spell further trouble with the player, at just 21, possibly getting his head turned and affecting his performances. If the bid had come in earlier in the window it would have been much easier for Murty.
