Sky Sports pundit: Leeds fans would love it if Radrizzani hires this 59-yr-old as next manager
Sky Sports pundit David Prutton believes that Leeds United fans would love it if Andrea Radrizzani hired Mick McCarthy as the next manager.
Paul Heckinbottom has been under a lot of pressure to improve results at Elland Road after winning just two matches since he replaced Thomas Christiansen in early February.
Leeds have slid down the Championship table and now it looks utterly unbelievable that this same team was top of the standings earlier in the campaign and looked a solid bet to finish in the play-offs.
After McCarthy, 59, quit Ipswich earlier this month, he has been linked with being the next Leeds manager.
And former Whites midfielder Prutton believes that fans would enjoy seeing the Yorkshireman at the helm.
“There has been a lot of talk about someone like Mick McCarthy going to Leeds, now that Mick is a free agent having left Ipswich but any signing or appointment of a manager carries a huge element of risk. The chemistry has got to be right and the dynamics have got to be right,” he said on the Yorkshire Evening Post website.

“Over the course of several seasons Mick did very, very well for Ipswich. He had no investment yet he was trying to do as much as he possibly could but in the end he was ready to go, hence the fact he walked out when he did. I think Leeds’ fans would take to Mick and while they might say the standard of football is not very good, a good style of football does not mean success is guaranteed.”

With every defeat Leeds have, it looks increasingly likely that Radrizzani will sack Heckingbottom at the end of the season and begin his third search for a new manager. McCarthy would be an excellent choice. The 59-year-old has won the Championship title twice with both Sunderland and Wolves and showed that he is capable of working magic on a shoestring budget at Ipswich. The best thing about McCarthy is that he is one of very few British managers that is able to hold down a job for more than one year. He manages to get owners to put their faith in him and provide stability. That is what makes him perfect for Leeds.
In other Leeds United news, fans have been demanding that this 29-year-old leaves the Yorkshire club in the summer.
