Sky Sports pundit predicts Leeds v Cardiff clash, raves about one 'superb' January signing
Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has made his prediction for Saturday’s Championship clash at Elland Road, and it’s not good news for Leeds fans.
In his column for Sky Sports, Prutton says that Leeds are “officially in a slump again” and that they couldn’t be playing anyone worse at this time than Neil Warnock’s Cardiff side.
He also singled one January signing out for praise, Gary Madine for Cardiff, saying he was a “superb” late addition.
“The Bluebirds are so tough to beat, they can grind you down and Gary Madine is a superb addition for them,” Prutton said.
“This will be a gritty affair and I think Cardiff will prevail.”
Prutton thinks it will be a low-scoring game, with the away side coming out 0-1 winners in the 3pm kick-off.
Leeds have had an awful run recently, combined with injuries and suspensions to key players.
Manager Thomas Christiansen made a number of signings in the winter window, with a late deal for young West Brom striker Tyler Roberts finally addressing the goal-scoring issues.
However, Prutton doesn’t think it’s going to be enough and highlights Cardiff’s Madine as a standout January deal.
Madine, 27, is a striker who Cardiff signed from Bolton on January 31 and he comes with a less-than-stellar record of 26 goals in 106 games for his former club.
Prutton is obviously expecting big things though and Leeds fans will be hoping he’s wrong.
Leeds will be looking for their first win since Boxing Day after drawing two games and losing three in January.
In other Leeds United transfer news, it can be revealed that a centre-forward who has player for the team this season has had his contract terminated.
