Sky Sports pundit David Prutton reckons that Aston Villa will come out on top and bag all three points against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday in the Championship.
Prutton, the former Leeds United and Nottingham Forest midfielder has cast his verdict and believes that Villa will win 1-0 but it won’t be an easy game for Steve Bruce’s side.
As quoted in Prutton’s Sky Sports column, he said: “Sheffield Wednesday got a fantastic win at Villa Park in the reverse fixture but they’ve changed managers since and their form has stuttered badly. It’s a tough game to call but I fancy Villa to edge it.”
The Claret and Blues have stuttered in the league over the past week after seeing their seven-game winning streak come to a sudden halt against Fulham at Craven Cottage.
It was a poor result all round and followed up by another poor display against Preston, where they had to come from behind with a Lewis Grabban equaliser from the penalty spot.
Jack Grealish was missing from both games with a calf strain as was goalmachine Albert Adomah and the two were sorely missed for their creativity and firepower – Villa were a different prospect without the duo.
And it shouldn’t be forgotten that when the sides last met back in November, it was the Owls who came out on top, with goals from Jordan Rhodes and Adam Reach in a 2-1 win.
Villa are now four points off Cardiff in second spot and need to get back to winning ways in order to achieve automatic promotion.
