Matt Le Tissier believes Liverpool cannot handle the “physical threats” ahead of the Merseyside derby against Everton.
Jurgen Klopp’s side make a short trip to Goodison Park on Monday night, looking to maintain their challenge for a Premier League crown.
The Reds are nine points adrift of leaders Chelsea in the table, but they could close the gap, if they are able to pick up a valuable three points against their rivals.
Both teams come into the fixture having recorded a win in midweek, with the Toffees beating Arsenal on home soil.
Former Southampton striker Le Tissier backed Ronald Koeman’s men to maintain their unbeaten record at home and win the game 2-1.
“Liverpool have proved they simply can’t handle physical threats,” Le Tissier told Sky Sports. “If Everton play the game correctly and get some crosses in then Lukaku should thrive.
The Merseyside duo have conceded 20 goals apiece this season, but it is the Reds who have come under scrutiny for their defensive problems.
Goalkeeper Loris Karius was dropped for their last fixture after coming under criticism for his performances between the sticks.
Everton have powerful forward Romelu Lukaku amongst their ranks as the Belgian will be looking to disrupt the Reds backline even further.
Lukaku has scored nine goals in 15 Premier League games this term, including providing three assists during those encounters.
Koeman’s side are ninth in the league table on 23 points from 16 games, 11 behind their rivals who sit in the top four.
