Trabzonspor are preparing to complete the permanent signing of Leeds United striker Caleb Ekuban next month, Football Insider understands.

The 25-year-old joined the Super Lig club last summer on a season-long loan costing £170,000, with the deal including an option to purchase the Italian-born striker full-time this summer for a further £860,000.

A Leeds source has told Football Insider that Trabzonspor are eager to trigger the option clause, which runs only until 31 May.

Ekuban has suggested he will weigh up his options at the end of the season and there is a possibility he could be signed by the Turkish outfit and then join another club later in the window.

United are now preparing for the permanent exit next month of a player they signed in the summer of 2017 from Italian Serie B side Chievo.

Ekuban scored just two goals in 21 Leeds matches last season and was frozen out of Marcelo Bielsa's squad in the opening month of this season before securing his loan move to Trabzonspor.

He has fared better in Turkey, where he has established himself as a key player with seven goals from 28 appearances and carved out a niche in the last few months on the right side of the attack.
