Sources: Abramovich spearheading Chelsea move for Lukaku - £100m+ fee and player stance won't put him off
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is spearheading a stunning pursuit for Romelu Lukaku – and will not be put off by his public vow to stay at Inter Milan, Football Insider understands.
The Blues want a new centre-forward this summer and the Russian businessman is a huge admirer of the Belgium international.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider Abramovich is desperate to bring the 28-year-old back to Stamford Bridge and is prepared to pay whatever it takes to seal a deal.
It is understood the 54-year-old oligarch would prefer to sign the Inter Milan ace over Borussia Dortmund sensation Erling Haaland.
He is willing to splash out £100million-plus to sign Lukaku, 10 years after the striker first joined the club.
That mega-money fee could force a deal after the centre-forward publicly stated he would be staying at Inter Milan this summer.

He revealed he had held “very positive” talks with new manager Simone Inzaghi before his appointment this week.
As such, the Belgian insisted he is committed to the Nerazzurri ahead of the summer window.
His goals fired Inter to their first Serie A title in 11 years during the recently-concluded campaign.
He netted 24 times and contributed 10 assists in 36 league appearances and was named Serie A’s most valuable player.
However, Lukaku’s stance has not deterred Abramovich from pursuing a stunning summer raid.
The 92-cap international made just 15 senior appearances and did not score during his first spell at Chelsea
He left Stamford Bridge to join Everton in 2014.
He scored 113 Premier League goals for West Brom, Everton and Manchester United before joining Inter in 2019.
