Arsenal defender Ryan Alebiosu has agreed a deal to join Crewe Alexandra, Football Insider understands.

The 20-year-old right-back has come through the ranks at the Premier League giants and is regarded as a future first-teamer.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Crewe have won the race ahead of EFL rivals to sign Alebiosu on loan this month.

Terms are agreed and he is set to complete a temporary move soon.

Alebiosu has been playing as a right midfielder for the Under 23s this season.

He has thrived in this position, scoring once and assisting five goals in 10 Premier League 2 appearances this season.

The defender also featured on the bench in Arsenal's last Premier League game against Burnley.

Alebiosu joined the Gunners' academy aged seven and this will be his first loan move.

Speaking to the official Arsenal website on 24 January, he admitted his confidence is high after having the chance to train with Arteta's first team.

He also admitted a change in his attitude, claiming, "this season I’m thinking, ‘let me just go at the players", following his switch to the right-wing.

His versatility should provide David Artell with more options on the right-hand side.

Crewe are looking for new recruits as they fight against relegation in League One.

They welcome third-placed Rotherham to the Mornflake Stadium on Saturday (29 January).
