Sources: Arsenal plot new Raphinha raid as summer price tag revealed

Arsenal are considering a bid for Barcelona winger Raphinha this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The Gunners are long-term admirers of the 26-year-old Brazilian and are aware that he could be put up for sale at the end of the season.

Barcelona continue to struggle financially and the board of the La Liga giants has decided that Raphinha is one of a handful of players that could be sold to raise funds.

Arsenal showed interest in signing Raphinha when he departed Leeds United last summer, but Barcelona were able to beat the Premier League leaders to his signature.

Chelsea have also shown an interest in signing Raphinha this summer.

Barcelona signed Raphinha for £55million, and it is understood that they would want to at least make their money back on their investment should he be sold this summer.

Raphinha has had an immediate impact since arriving in Spain, racking up nine goals and nine assists in 38 appearances for Xavi’s side this season.

He has played a major part in helping Barcelona to the top spot in La Liga, 12 points clear of arch-rivals Real Madrid.

Xavi is a big admirer of Raphinha and hailed him as ‘the future of Barcelona’ back in February after he scored against Real Betis.

“He’s a criticised player, but he does a lot and we value him a lot,” the Spaniard added.

Raphinha was also prolific during his time in the Premier League, scoring 17 and assisting 12 during his two seasons at Elland Road.

He was a fan favourite in Yorkshire and was named the supporters’ Player of the Year in 2021.
