Sources: Arsenal set sights on signing Marcus Rashford after Man United update
Arsenal are keeping close tabs on Man United superstar Marcus Rashford, sources have told Football Insider.
The 24-year-old’s Old Trafford future is up in the air with his contract due to expire next summer.
United have the option to extend that deal by 12 months to protect the value of the forward but have yet to do so.
That is providing encouragement to suitors including Arsenal, who registered their interest in Rashford earlier this year before completing the marquee capture of Gabriel Jesus from Man City.
The Londoners remain interested in Rashford and are monitoring his situation with the door open for a potential box-office capture.
He is valued by United at around the £50million mark but currently is on course to be a free agent next summer.
The United academy product has shown signs of recovering his best form this season after a wretched 2021-22.
He has scored three goals and provided two assists in seven Premier League appearances so far this term.
Erik ten Hag has returned the attacker to his more favoured central role after he struggled to make an impact while playing on the left in previous seasons.
His impressive form has also relegated Cristiano Ronaldo to a place on the bench.
In total, Rashford has scored 101 goals in 324 appearances for his boyhood club.
Arsenal lost Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette during the 2021-22 season but signed Man City striker Gabriel Jesus in the recently-concluded summer transfer window.
The Brazilian has scored five goals in eight Premier League appearances for the league leaders.
