Sources: Arsenal star Marquinhos passes Norwich City medical

Arsenal winger Marquinhos has passed a Norwich City medical after agreeing a loan move, sources have told Football Insider.

The 19-year-old, who arrived from Sao Paulo last summer, is putting the finishing touches to a temporary move.

The agreement with Norwich is for a straight loan, with no option to keep the player permanently.

Arsenal are happy for Marquinhos to gain valuable first-team experience.

The Brazilian has made six appearances in all competitions so far this season for Arsenal, but he has only had one brief cameo appearance in the Premier League against Brentford.

The South American will help fill the void at Carrrow Road left by Todd Cantwell’s departure to Rangers.

Three of Marquinhos‘ six appearances for the Gunners came during the club’s Europa League group stage campaign.

He scored and registered an assist on his debut against FC Zurich and played 80 minutes in the following two European games but then failed to play in the remaining group games.

Opportunities have been scarce after that final European appearance with his most recent outing coming as an eight-minute cameo against Oxford in the FA Cup (9 January).

Norwich sit sixth in the Championship after winning their last two league games, scoring eight goals in the process.

Marquinhos could make his debut for the Canaries against Burnley on Saturday (4 February).

Arsenal are next in action against Premier League strugglers Everton, also on Saturday.

In other news, sources have told Football Insider that are Arsenal preparing a third Moises Caicedo bid as Brighton asking price revealed.
