Aston Villa are not signing Marco Bizot as Emiliano Martinez's replacement, sources have told Football Insider.

Bizot, 34, is close to making the switch to Villa Park from French side Brest, with the transfer expected to be confirmed in the coming days.

However, sources say that the Dutchman is coming in to replace the already departed Robin Olsen as backup keeper, rather than taking Martinez's spot as number one.

The Argentine has been linked with a Villa exit this summer, and both Manchester United and Atletico Madrid have shown interest.

Martinez not guaranteed to depart Aston Villa

Many thought that Martinez was saying goodbye to the Villa Park faithful in their final home game of last season against Tottenham.

Despite what looked to be a tearful farewell, sources say that the shot-stopper is not guaranteed to leave this summer, as it would be an expensive deal for any buying club.

Man United's pursuit of Martinez hinges on whether they are able to sell current keeper Andre Onana, but as of now, the Cameroon international remains at Old Trafford.

It is a similar situation for Atletico Madrid, who will not make a move for the Villa number one unless Jan Oblak departs.

Martinez has also had interest from Saudi Pro League clubs, who would have no trouble paying the big fee Aston Villa demand.

‘Aston Villa plan to accept Leon Bailey offer'

Meanwhile, Unai Emery reportedly plans to sign a new right-winger to strengthen his Aston Villa squad this summer.

That is according to their former scout Mick Brown, who claims that Emery has instructed his recruitment team to identify options in that position.

This comes amid speculation surrounding the future of Leon Bailey, while there are concerns at Villa Park that they have been lacking in that position for too long.

Brown told Football Insider in February that Villa are looking to move Bailey on in the summer as he is no longer part of the manager’s long-term plans.
