Sources: Aston Villa plot move for QPR star Ilias Chair

Aston Villa are plotting a move for Queens Park Rangers attacker Ilias Chair, sources have told Football Insider.

The 24-year-old is regarded as one of the outstanding players in the Championship and has been instrumental in QPR’s flying start to the season.

Villa have sent scouts on a regular basis to Loftus Road this season to make checks on Chair as they line up a move ahead of the January window.

They have provided upbeat feedback on the attacking midfielder and are in no doubt he has the talent to dazzle in the Premier League.

The Morocco international has a contract at QPR that runs until the summer of 2025 and also included the option of a further 12 months.

The Rangers star man has scored three goals and supplied six assists from 16 Championship matches this season.

Former Aston Villa coach Michale Beale took QPR to the top of the Championship this week and Chair has been a key part of his success.

The nine-time international moved to Loftus Road from Stevenage in January 2019 and he now has 54 goal contributions in 167 games across all competitions for the Rs.

His form saw him rewarded with a new deal in January 2021 and QPR are in a strong position ahead of the January transfer window.

Managerless Aston Villa have not been afraid to sign players from the Championship in the past after recruiting Emiliano Buendia from Norwich City last summer (2021).

In other news, Aston Villa are set to hold preliminary talks with an England-based 36-year-old over the manager’s job.
