Aston Villa are planning to sign two A-list forwards this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Manager Unai Emery has told the Villa hierarchy he wants to recruit a centre-forward as well as a top-class wide forward as he looks to take the team to the next level.

Villa will be one of the biggest spenders again in the main window despite massive outlays in recent years under owners Naseef Sawiris and Wes Edens.

The pair are prepared to bankroll what sources say will be another “huge” overhaul and back Emery to the hilt.

Top of the club's target list will be star attackers who can provide more cutting edge and goal threat than what the team currently has.

The Villans lost proven Premier League striker Danny Ings to West Ham in January after less than two years at Villa Park.

But, current first choice striker Ollie Watkins has been excelling in recent weeks.

The 27-year-old scored his sixth consecutive away goal of the season in Villa's 2-1 victory over Leicester last week (4 April).

The striker continued his scoring form when the side returned to Villa Park to face Nottingham Forest on Saturday (8 April), netting the second goal in the 2-0 victory.

Emery's side are currently sixth in the Premier League with 47 points from 30 games.

The Birmingham club are six points behind fifth placed Tottenham and have won four of their last five league matches.
