Sources: Aston Villa sensation Archer opens new deal talks
Aston Villa sensation Cameron Archer has opened new contract talks with the club, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.
The 20-year-old striker hit the headlines last month with a hat-trick on his first senior start in Villa’s EFL Cup win over Barrow.
A Villa source has told Football Insider the club regard Archer highly and are working to tie him to a new deal.
The youngster, who spent last season on loan at National League side Solihull Moors, is in the final year of his current deal with the Midlands giants and could agree a pre-contract with interested clubs in January.
But Villa are hopeful of tying him down to a new deal that would secure his long-term future.
The club rejected offers for Archer to go out on loan before the transfer window shut at the end of August.

Manager Dean Smith had revealed there were “certainly a lot of takers for” the young forward.
But he opted to keep Archer at Villa Park so he can train with the first-team squad and develop while under the club’s coaching staff.
The rising star has made two senior Villa appearances so far, but has yet to add to the match he played against Barrow.
However, Smith promoted Archer to his matchday squad in the aftermath of that game, and he was an unused substitute in each of the last two Premier League fixtures against Chelsea and Brentford.
