Sources: Aston Villa set sights on re-signing Man City star Kyle Walker
Aston Villa have set their sights on signing Man City star Kyle Walker this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
The Midlands giants are ready to back Unai Emery to the hilt in the main transfer window after his astonishing turnaround of the team’s fortunes.
One position Emery is looking to strengthen is believed to be right-back and Walker, 32, is firmly on the club’s radar.
The Spanish manager wants a proven performer who could immediately slot into the starting XI and believes the still super-quick former Tottenham man fits the bill.
Walker has lost his regular starting place at City and is out of contract in the summer of 2024.
Pep Guardiola has publicly admitted for the first time there are doubts over the future of the 75-times England international.

The centre-back John Stones has moved into defensive midfield alongside Rodri, and Manuel Akanji is the preferred choice on the right of the back three, leaving Walker without an obvious role.
At Villa, Ashley Young, 37, has taken over as the first choice right-back, starting the club’s last four Premier League matches, all of which have yielded victories.
There are major doubts over the future of Matty Cash, who has been the regular at that position since joining from Nottingham Forest in 2020.
Walker has already had one spell at Villa, on loan from Tottenham in the 2010-11 season when he was still learning his trade.
Intriguingly, Villa have strong interest in another City fringe star Kalvin Phillips as they look to recruit a midfielder this summer.
