Cameron Archer will not be leaving Aston Villa before the window shuts after multiple offers were rejected, sources have told Football Insider.

A number of Championship clubs have submitted recent offers to take Archer on loan this summer.

Manager Steven Gerrard believes the striker, 20, has a key role to play in the coming months.

Villa have now told interested clubs they are rejecting all offers as Gerrard wants to keep Archer in his first-team squad this season.

This comes after Archer signed a new contract last week that runs until 2028.

The England Under-21 international had a number of potential suitors after impressing on loan at Preston North End in the second half of last season.

He netted seven times in 20 games for North End, including a memorable winner in the derby victory over Blackpool, in the Championship.

Preston boss, and friend of Gerrard, Ryan Lowe was keen to bring Archer back to Deepdale but has since signed Troy Parrott on loan from Tottenham.

Archer is set to battle it out with Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings to be the first-choice striker at Villa Park although Gerrard has also operated with two centre-forwards.

He made his first Premier League appearance under Gerrard from the bench in the opening day defeat to AFC Bournemouth on Saturday (6 August).

That brings his tally to seven senior appearances for his boyhood club, scoring four goals in the process.

He scored a hat-trick against Barrow in the second round of EFL Cup last season and a header against Chelsea in the following round of the same competition.
