Aston Villa have submitted a seven-figure bid for Eddie Nketiah as they look to fend off multiple clubs to sign him on loan from Arsenal this month, Football Insider can reveal.
The Premier League outfit have turned their attention to the England Under-21 international after the London giants recalled him from his season-long loan at Leeds United at the start of the window
A Villa source has told Football Insider the club have tabled an offer of above £1million to take Nketiah for the rest of the campaign.
They may find out as early as today the outcome of their move as Nketiah makes up his mind over his destination for the second half of the campaign.
Nketiah will pick from Villa as well as Championship trio Bristol City, Sheffield Wednesday and Nottingham Forest.
His final decision is likely to rest on how much game time he is likely to get after a difficult loan spell at Leeds.
That move started well for the centre-forward with a rush of early goals but he started only two league matches as he struggled to displace Patrick Bamford from the starting XI.
In total, he netted five times from 15 Leeds appearances, nearly all of which came as a substitute.
Bristol City had been in pole position to sign Nketiah after missing out on him to Leeds last summer, but manager Lee Johnson has admitted his pursuit has been complicated in recent days.
Villa are in the market for a new striker after losing first choice front man Wesley to injury for the rest of the season.
In other Aston Villa news, it can be REVEALED that the club are planning to sell senior player this month despite recent heroics.
