Aston Villa have told defender Alan Hutton he can find a new club this summer, Football Insider understands.
The Midlands giants are set to dispense with the long-serving full-back, who has become a big fans favourite after winning them over and becoming a regular in recent years.
A Villa source has told Football Insider that Hutton, 34, has been told he won’t be getting new deal to replace his contract, which expires this summer.
It will bring an end to an association that began with the Midlands giants when the ex-Scotland international signed from Tottenham in the summer of 2011.
Hutton fought back from a difficult start at the club to became a mainstay and has made 202 appearances, mainly at right-back but he has also slotted in a right-back.
The veteran has accumulated 34 appearances this season, including 33 league starts, and was a regular under Dean Smith until suffering a serious hamstring injury in February.
He was subsequently replaced as first choice by Ahmed Elmohamady and manager Smith does not believe he should extend his Villa career into a ninth season.
In the latest Aston Villa news, it can be REVEALED that the club have reached a verbal agreement to make loan star their first summer signing.
