Aston Villa will listen to offers for Danny Ings this summer amid Brighton interest, Football Insider understands.

The Midlands giants have already started what is expected to be a huge overhaul by signing Boubacar Kamara on a free transfer from Marseille.

A Villa source has told Football Insider that Steven Gerrard also wants a top-class striker signing and is ready to allow Ings to leave to part-fund the deal and free up space on the wage bill.

The forward, 29, had a mixed debut campaign after signing from Southampton in a £25million deal.

He has two years remaining on his Villa contract.

Villa are also in the market for a new centre-forward despite having Ings and Ollie Watkins on the books.

The former Southampton star netted seven times in 31 appearances across all competitions during the recently-completed campaign.

Of those, he started 22 Premier League games.

Meanwhile, Watkins, who was in the starting XI for 33 top-flight fixtures, scored 11 goals in 35 games.

Aston Villa were the ninth-highest scorers in the Premier League this term, with 52 goals to their name in total.

However, Gerrard is still keen to bolster his forward line with proven quality in what will be his first summer transfer window at Villa Park.

He knows he has to free up space among the squad and wage bill to bring in the top talent he wants.

As revealed by Football Insider (18 April), Villa are also in the market for a new centre-back among many other top target.
