Marcelo Bielsa is confident Jack Harrison’s value will rocket at Leeds United this season and he’ll be worth £15million next year, Football Insider understands.
Harrison has begun his second loan campaign at Elland Road in excellent form after a first season that mixed the occasional dazzling moment with inconsistency.
A Leeds source has told Football Insider that Bielsa is convinced he can help turn the 22-year-old into a genuine matchwinner at not only Championship level but also in the Premier League.
The Argentine insisted upon Harrison returning to Elland Road this summer and his faith is starting to be rewarded after he scored a goal in the opening-day win at Bristol City and produced strong performances against Nottingham Forest and Wigan Athletic.
He already looks a different player to the one who made 34 league starts among 42 Championship appearances last season, scoring four goals and supplying four assists.
Bielsa has been blown away by Harrison’s attitude and efforts behind the scenes, with the youngster working hard in the off-season on his strength and fitness.
It is starting to pay dividends and the Manchester City-owned winger is emerging as a key player in Leeds’ attempts to secure automatic promotion.
Leeds are benefiting from Harrison’s improvement as well as City, who signed him from their sister club New York City in January of last year before he was immediately loaned out to Middlesbrough for the second half of last season.
There is confidence at both clubs that Bielsa can harness his talent to the point where his value will continue to grow and he will be worth £15million when his loan finishes at the end of the season.
