Tottenham remain favourites to land Club Brugge wonderkid Antonio Nusa despite a hijack from Premier League rivals Newcastle United, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track Podcast, transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the Lilywhites are keen to get a deal for the winger over the line as soon as possible.

However, sources told Football Insider on Tuesday (23 January) that Newcastle United are discussing sensationally hijacking Tottenham’s deal for the youngster.

It is believed the Magpies are eyeing up the teenager as a potential replacement for Miguel Almiron - who is the subject of interest in Saudi Arabia.

Both sides have emphasised signing top young talent in recent years and Nusa fits the bill following his breakthrough in Belgium.

The Norway international has managed four goals and three assists in 27 appearances across all competitions this term.

He has already racked up four senior caps for his country, notching one goal and four assists.

Nusa is currently under contract with Club Brugge until June 2027 after penning a new contract last year (2023).

Spurs and Newcastle sit tenth and fifth respectively in the Premier League table and are separated by 11 points.
