They have registered their interest in signing Gray in the summer window.

However, that form failed to materialise during his time with Watford.

Gray managed just 21 goals in 125 games for the Hornets – who signed him from Burnley for a reported £18million in 2017.

The striker has netted three goals 12 caps for Jamaica since making his international bow in March 2021.

Birmingham, Cardiff, and Reading all finished in the bottom third of the Championship last season.

All three sides flirted with relegation at some stage, and will now do battle in an attempt to add a proven Championship scorer to their ranks.

Cardiff have already completed four summer additions, including the signing of highly-rated winger Ollie Tanner.

Meanwhile, Reading and Birmingham are yet to dip into the market.
