Sources: Blackburn Rovers step up bid to sign Kevin Nisbet

Blackburn Rovers are stepping up their bid to sign Hibernian striker Kevin Nisbet this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Nisbet is also attracting interest from other English Championship clubs ahead of the upcoming window.

The 26-year-old’s current contract at Hibs runs until 2024 as Blackburn look to prise him away from Easter Road at the end of the season.

The striker, who has scored a goal every 84 minutes in the Scottish Premiership this season, nearly joined Championship side Millwall in January.

The Edinburgh club had accepted an offer worth £2.3million for the forward who was set to complete a move shortly before the end of the winter window.

But Nisbet pulled out of the move at the last minute after having a change of heart over his future and returned to Scotland’s capital where he has been an important player this season.

Nisbet joined Hibs from Dunfermline Athletic in 2020 for a reported fee of £250,000 and has made 95 appearances during his time in the capital.

Nisbet spent the majority of the 2021-22 season sidelined with a cruciate ligament injury during which time he missed 262 days and 32 games for his club.

Despite struggling again with an injury that kept him out for a month at the start of 2023, the Scotland international has netted ten goals in 13 league appearances so far this season and has also provided one assist in those outings.

Hibs are currently sixth in the Scottish Premiership after an impressive 1-0 derby win over fourth-placed Hearts on Saturday (15 April).
