Sources: Bolton Wanderers, Port Vale and Forest Green make moves to sign Aberdeen ace Campbell

Bolton Wanderers, Forest Green and Port Vale have made moves to sign Aberdeen midfielder Dean Campbell this month, Football Insider understands.

The 20-year-old has made over 70 first-team appearances for the Dons but the club are happy to loan him out to get regular first-team action.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that English trio Bolton, Forest Green and Port Vale have made enquiries about potentially signing Campbell.

Campbell is under contract at Aberdeen until the end of next season after penning an extension in December 2019.

The Scotland youth international has started just once for the Dons in the league since the middle of October.

A regular in the centre of midfield last season, Campbell has seen opportunities limited this term by the arrival of Scott Brown.

The former Celtic skipped moved to Pittodrie over the summer to be a player-coach under Stephen Glass.

The two were teammates at Hibs and Brown has also taken over the captaincy at Aberdeen.

Bolton Wanderers manager Ian Evatt confirmed yesterday (6 January), via the Bolton News, that he wanted to add more strength in depth this month.

The club have already bolstered their attacking ranks with the signing of striker Dion Charles from League One rivals Accrington Stanley.

Bolton are down in 17th in the table after a run of just two wins in their last 13 league games.

Meanwhile, Forest Green are top of League Two and Port Vale occupy the final play-off place in the division.

In other news, Liverpool have rejected a formal bid from a Premier League club and just another £5million will seal the deal.
