Sources: Bournemouth hijack Celtic bid to sign Edwards after West Brom exit

Bournemouth are trying to hijack Celtic’s bid to sign winger Kyle Edwards, Football Insider can reveal.

The Scottish giants are negotiating a deal for Edwards, 23, after his exit from West Brom at the end of last month.

A Bournemouth source has told Football Insider that the club have now made a move for Edwards.

He is currently training with Reading although they are not the favourites to sign him.

Celtic have held talks with Edwards over a contract but Bournemouth’s interest is a threat to their hopes of an agreement.

The Hoops would need to pay compensation to sign the winger.

But, due to cross-border rules, the fee would only be around £300,000.

Edwards has been targeted to fill the gap left by the exit of Mohamed Elyounoussi, who has returned to Southampton after two seasons on loan at Parkhead.

Celtic’s recruitment drive has ramped up following the arrival of Ange Postecoglou.

Youngsters Liam Shaw and Osaze Urhoghide have both arrived from Sheffield Wednesday.

While the capture of attacker Liel Abada was confirmed by the club on Wednesday (July 14th).

Bournemouth are getting used to life under Scott Parker after he replaced Jonathan Woodgate.

Parker left Fulham following their relegation from the Premier League last season.

The Cherries failed to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking, losing to Brentford in the Championship playoffs.

Celtic’s first game of the season is just days away as Postecoglou prepares to welcome FC Midtjylland to Parkhead.
