Sources: English club in advanced talks to sign Rangers rising star after bid accepted

Brentford are in advanced talks to sign Rangers rising star Nathan Young-Coombes after having a bid accepted, Football Insider understands.

The English Championship promotion hopefuls are in negotiations to land the forward, 19, on a pre-summer window deal.

Ibrox sources have told Football Insider that Rangers have agreed a compensation figure of £100,000 for Young-Coombes.

The deal is not yet done but it is said to be “very close” by those close to discussions.

The teenager is allowed to speak to other clubs as he is out of contract at the Light Blues in the summer.

He was linked with a January transfer but that did not get agreed by Monday’s transfer cut-off.

The young Englishman began his career in Chelsea’s youth academy before heading north to the Scottish Premiership giants in February 2019.

Young-Coombes has failed to make an impression on the Rangers first team and has largely been involved with the club’s reserves and Under-19 squad during his two-year spell in Glasgow.

At Brentford, the plan is for him to initially link up with their ‘B’ squad while he continues his development before pushing for the first team.

The Championship club are second in the division and well placed to secure automatic promotion.

Young-Coombes has made nine Rangers youth-team appearances this season, which have yielded five goals.

He is a versatile forward who can operate in multiple positions in the modern mould, included wide and central positions.
