Brighton have no plans to sell goalkeeper Robert Sanchez amid Newcastle United speculation, Football Insider understands.

The 24-year-old has been linked with the north-east big spenders as they target a new goalkeeper this summer.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Brighton will reject any potential interest in Sanchez.

Newcastle

The reported £20million offer Newcastle are plotting is miles off the Premier League club’s valuation of the shot-stopper.

Sanchez is under contract until the summer of 2025 and has only missed one Premier League game all season.

He missed 27 November's loss to Aston Villa after being sent off against Newcastle.

After a VAR check, he was given a straight red card for bringing down Callum Wilson in 6 November's 1-1 draw at the Amex.

The Newcastle striker was one on one with Sanchez in the dying moments of the game as Sanchez brought him down outside the box.

The Spanish stopper has been at Brighton since 2013, when he joined the club as a youth player.

He has since gone on to make 57 appearances for the club after successful loan spells at Forest Green Rovers and Rochdale.

He is now firmly the first choice at Brighton having kept eight clean sheets in 29 Premier League appearances this season

Martin Dubravka remains Newcastle's number one with Karl Darlow serving as second-choice stopper.

Dubravka missed the start of the season through injury but regained his place after a string of errors from Freddie Woodman and Darlow.

Brighton are 13th in the Premier League and are next in action against Arsenal on Saturday (9 April).

15th-placed Newcastle are next in action against Wolves on Friday (8 April).
