Sources: Brighton to announce Mahmoud Dahoud signing to replace Liverpool-bound ace

Brighton are set to announce the free transfer arrival of Mahmoud Dahoud this week, sources have told Football Insider.

Talks have been ongoing in recent weeks but the 27-year-old is now set to put pen to paper on a four-year deal at the Amex Stadium.

Brighton have moved quickly to land Dahoud, beating off competition from other clubs ahead of his Dortmund contract expiry at the end of June.

It is believed the Seagulls’ move for the midfielder will help fill the void left by Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo.

Speaking before last month’s season-ender against Aston Villa and quoted by the BBC (28 May), Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi admitted he expects the duo to depart in the summer window.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (5 June) that Liverpool are set to complete the signing of Mac Allister this week after triggering his release clause.

The Merseysiders, Man United, Chelsea and Arsenal have been credited with an interest in Caicedo – despite him signing a new four-year deal at the Amex Stadium earlier this year.

Dahoud brings a wealth of experience with him to the south coast following a successful career in Germany.

The two-cap Germany international has racked up 227 club appearances in spells with Dortmund and Borussia Monchengladbach.

Brighton are also expected to wrap up the free transfer arrival of Liverpool veteran James Milner.

Football Insider revealed last month (19 May) that Milner is set to join the Seagulls in a blow to Leeds United – who were reportedly interested in the 37-year-old.

De Zerbi’s side are set to enter the Europa League at the group stage after achieving a sixth-place finish in the 2022-23 campaign.
