Bristol City are closing in on the double signing of Leicester City legends Andy King and Matty James, Football Insider can reveal.

Nigel Pearson is keen to be reunited with the midfield pair as he plots the club’s promotion bid.

A source has told Football Insider City are in advanced talks with both players and are increasingly confident of signing them on free transfers.

Both deals could be finalised at around the same time.

Long-serving James is on Leicester’s books until the end of this month, while King departed last year after nearly a decade-and-a-half with the Foxes.

King spent the second half of last season with Belgian club OH Leuven who share the same owners as Leicester City.

However, he managed just one Juniper Pro League appearance.

The 32-year-old played 376 games for Leicester and was a key member of the side that won the Premier League.

James, 29, spent the season on loan with Championship sides with Barnsley and Coventry City and racked up 38 league appearances across both spells.

He has made just one league appearance for Leicester since March 2018.

Both James and King played a key role together under Pearson when the Foxes won the Championship title in the 2013-14 campaign.

The pair have over 350 Championship appearances under their belt and Bristol City will be hoping their experience can benefit the squad.

The Robins finished last season in 19th-position, eight points above the relegation zone.
