Cardiff City and Millwall are racing to sign Norwich City striker Jordan Hugill before Monday's transfer deadline, Football Insider understands.

The 29-year-old is currently on loan at West Brom but is ready to terminate the deal after failing to make an impact this season.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Hugill is unlikely to figure in Dean Smith's plans at Norwich and they would be open to sending him out on loan again.

Cardiff and Millwall are both in talks about a possible deal for the former West Ham man.

West Brom boss Valeirien Ismael confirmed today (28 January), via the Express & Star, that Andy Carroll has passed a medical with the club.

That has opened the door for Hugill to cut his stay at the Hawthorns short.

He has scored just once in 20 Championship games for West Brom this term.

Hugill still has 18 months to run on his Norwich contract but is behind Teemu Pukki and Adam Idah in the pecking order.

Despite his poor form at West Brom, Hugill had previously been a major success at Championship level.

His 23 goals in 100 Championship appearances, including 69 starts, for Preston North End earned him a £10million move to West Ham in January 2018.

He failed to make an impression in east London and spent time on loan at Middlesbrough and QPR before making a permanent move to Norwich in the summer of 2020.
