Sources: Cardiff City in advanced talks to re-sign Wolves star Giles

Cardiff City are in advanced talks to re-sign Wolves wing-back Ryan Giles on loan, Football Insider understands.

The 21-year-old was recalled by parent club Wolves at the beginning of this month as they looked to prop up their squad numbers.

A recruitment source has now told Football Insider that Wolves are happy to loan out Giles again to Cardiff and a new deal is close to being agreed.

Giles had a superb first half of the season with the Bluebirds and was the Championship’s leading assist-maker when Bruno Lage recalled him at the start of January.

He joined the Welsh outfit on a season-long loan back in July.

However, injuries and other enforced absences at Molineux saw Wolves cut his temporary move short.

The left-sided winger played 21 times for Cardiff City and contributed nine assists before returning to his parent club.

Giles has since been left as an unused substitute for three of Wolves’ four games in January.

However, he looks set to fall down the pecking order again following the arrival of Chiquinho at Molineux.

With other players also returning to availability, Giles has been given the green light to head back out on loan.

Cardiff City have remained interested in re-signing the winger this month and are in advanced talks to strike a deal.

The Bluebirds have not won in the Championship since Giles’ departure, suffering defeats to Blackburn and Bristol City.

Steve Morison’s men currently sit 20th in the second-tier table, four points off the relegation zone.
