Celtic are set to appoint Joe Dudgeon in a recruitment role after agreeing terms, sources have told Football Insider.

Dudgeon has been working at City Football Group as a scouting account manager for both New York City and Melbourne City.

However, Dudgeon is set to leave CFG and join Mark Lawwell at Celtic Park after finalising a deal with the Scottish giants.

Celtic are looking to revamp and restructure their scouting department ahead of the summer window and view Dudgeon as an ideal candidate to spearhead the project.

Celtic are expected to add more staff to their scouting department after hiring Dudgeon.

The 32-year-old started his playing career at Man United in 2009 but retired just six years later after stints at Carlisle United, Hull City and Barnsley.

Dudgeon retired in 2015 following a loan stint at Barnsley - a year after Melbourne City joined the City Football Group and the same season in which New York City made their debut as a professional Major League Soccer side.

Melbourne and New York were the first clubs to join the now global multi-club network that is CFG.

Spearheaded by Premier League champions Man City, the network now consists of 11 different teams spread out among four different continents.

Dudgeon's role within the CFG network was responsible for scouting and recruitment, and his work in Australia and the United States clearly caught the eye of Ange Postecoglou.

Postecoglou has previously discussed Celtic's scouting "strategy" and insisted he wants to "scour the world" for talent.
