Celtic are unhappy that Leicester City are trying to entice their rising star midfielder Tsoanelo Letsosa, Football Insider has learned.

The midfielder, 16, is on the radar of the Premier League high flyers after earning rave reviews for his performances for club and country at age-group level this season.

A Leicester source has told Football Insider the club have a strong interest in Letsosa and have been keeping close tabs on him after his starring role in the Victory Shield in November.

This has not gone down well among the Celtic hierarchy, whose relationship with Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers was severely damaged by the manner of his exit last February.

The northern Irishman quit with the club on the verge of a historic treble to return to the Premier League and took his backroom team with him.

Celtic do not want to lose the youngster and are particularly keen he does not come under Rodgers' command at Leicester..

Letsosa was one of the stars of the Victory Shield and was named man-of-the-match in the final as Scotland Under-16s were crowned joint winners of the prestigious age-group competition.

The midfielder, who is of South African descent, joined Celtic in the summer of 2017 and has developed impressively through the age-group ranks.

He is an outstanding all-round sporting prospect possessing eyecatching speed and athleticism, and broke a number of records in athletics for his age in Glasgow.

Celtic are keen he does not quit the club in the manner of teenage centre-back Liam Morrison, who snubbed a contract offer last summer to join Bayern Munich.
