Sources: Celtic issue £15m Ajer mandate to agents as Norwich City return with new bid

Celtic have issued agents with a £15million Kristoffer Ajer mandate as Norwich City return with a new bid, Football Insider has learned.

The newly-promoted Premier League side are pushing hard for the giant centre-back after already having a number of offers knocked back.

A Celtic source has told Football Insider the club have made it clear to agents and intermediaries they want to secure a £15m fee for Ajer.

The Hoops are looking to drive up the price amid competition from German side Bayer Leverkusen for the Norway international.

Norwich have made a centre-back signing a priority this summer and are big admirers of Ajer.

They are expected to return to the negotiating table with a new and improved offer.

Ajer has made it clear he wants to quit Celtic in the current window and is keen to play in a top European league.

The Scottish giants will not stand in the way of the 23-year-old, who has entered the final year of his contract.

Ajer rejected multiple offers of an extension to his deal and is expected to leave after five years at the club.

Celtic will then look to recruit a centre-back capable of slotting into their first team next season.

Ajer has been a mainstay of the side in recent years and has accumulated 176 appearances in all competitions.

He played 46 matches last season and his versatility is attractive to Norwich and other suitors.
