Celtic are set to hand Ange Postecoglou a bolstered summer transfer kitty if he achieves Champions League qualification this season, sources have told Football Insider.

The Scottish giants currently sit top of the Premiership table, nine points clear of arch-rivals Rangers in second.

Celtic qualified for the Champions League group stage in 2022 for the first time since 2017, although they finished bottom of Group F with just two points.

Dudgeon joins the club from the City Football Group, where he previously worked with Melbourne City and New York City FC.

Sources say the Scottish giants led by main shareholder Dermot Desmond will grant Postecoglu a big summer kitty if the club are back in Europe's elite competition next term.

Postecoglou has been requesting an overhaul of the club's scouting network, and Dudgeon will join the backroom staff tasked with recruitment this summer.

Postecoglou has spent £46million at Celtic Park on over 20 new arrivals since being appointed manager in 2021.

Stars such as Kyogo Furuhashi and Jota have been instant hits in Glasgow, and Postecoglou remains keen for Celtic to carry on scouting hidden gems across the globe.

Rangers boss Michael Beale labelled Postecoglou "lucky" that he was able to spend so much to construct his squad, and the Australian manager is set for another summer of spending as he looks to keep Celtic ahead of their rivals.

"Ange is a lucky man because he’s spent a lot of money. He’s a good coach - but he’s spent a lot of money," said Beale.
