Sources: Celtic open talks to sign Edwards after he quits West Brom
Celtic have opened talks to sign winger Kyle Edwards following his West Brom exit, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.
The 23-year-old Englishman is a free agent after his contract at the Hawthorns expired at the end of last month.
A Celtic source has told Football Insider that the club are working on a deal for Edwards as they step up plans to strengthen their squad.
It will not be a free transfer as the Scottish giants would need to pay compensation to West Brom for the player’s development costs.
But cross-border rules mean Celtic will only have to pay around £300,000 for the Albion academy product.
Ange Postecoglou’s side are looking to snap up several bargains from south of the border as they work to a tight budget in the transfer market.

The Hoops last week announced the signing of teenage defender Osaze Urhoghide following the expiry of his Sheffield Wednesday contract as he followed Liam Shaw to Glasgow.
Edwards is far more experienced than that duo after making 49 appearances for West Brom.
Five of them came in last season’s Premier League for the left-sided attacker, who scored four times and supplied five assists in a Baggies shirt.
Edwards was one of seven senior players to leave Albion upon the expiry of their contracts last month.
The club released a statement to reveal he was leaving along with Hal Robson-Kanu, Charlie Austin, Kamil Grosicki, Branislav Ivanovic, Lee Peltier, and goalkeeper Andy Lonergan.
