Celtic have opened talks to sign Rubin Kazan winger Sead Haksabanovic, sources have told Football Insider.

The 23-year-old is seeking a move away due to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, and is very keen on a move to Parkhead.

Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has given the green light for a deal to be pushed through before the close of the transfer window.

Celtic first made a move for the former West Ham youngster earlier this month before negotiations stalled.

The Hoops did business with Rubin Kazan last summer (2021) when Carl Starfelt moved to Parkhead.

He has not played for Rubin Kazan since Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Fifa gave special permission for foreign players in Russia to suspend their contracts and join another club for the rest of the 2021-22 season.

The Montenegro international took advantage of this to return to Sweden, the country of his birth, and he scored twice and provided a further two assists in 11 games for Djurgarden.

Across his time with Halmstads BK, FK Norrköping and Djurgarden, Haksabanovic has 45 goal contributions in 104 games in Sweden's top-tier.

His form for Halmstads BK earned him a move to West Ham in the summer of 2017 as an 18-year-old but he left three years later without a Premier League appearance.

Celtic have enjoyed a perfect start to the Scottish Premiership season with three wins in their opening three games.
