Celtic will make new attempts to secure Ryan Christie to a new contract ahead of the summer window, Football Insider understands.
The attacking midfielder’s future at Parkhead is up in the air as he prepares to enter the final 12 months of his contract at the end of the season.
The next window is crunch point for Celtic as it represents the last opportunity to secure a huge fee for the 25-year-old Scotland international.
A Hoops source has told Football Insider the club have not give up hope of sealing Christie to a new deal amid interest from Premier League clubs, while French outfit Nice were also strongly linked last year.
The Scottish giants face an uphill battle to keep him but believe a renewal is more likely than it is for the likes of Odsonne Edouard, Kristoffer Ajer and Olivier Ntcham.
Like Christie, they are out of contract in the summer of 2022 and their values will significantly plummet after the next window.
It promises to be a summer of huge change at Celtic following a calamitous campaign that leaves them slip 15 points behind champions-elect Rangers.
Christie was rated close to the £20m bracket at one point although Celtic may do well to secure £10m for him in the summer.
He has remained a regular starter despite the constant chopping and changing from Neil Lennon.
The attacker was used on the right side of midfield in Wednesday’s 1-0 win over Aberdeen.
Christie has made 19 league starts among 35 appearances in all competitions this season, which have yielded five goals and 11 assists.
