Celtic rising star Ryan Mullen has been targeted by English clubs after rejecting a new contract at the club, Football Insider can reveal.

The future of the goalkeeper, 18, is up in the air as his current deal expires in the summer and he has not committed to a new one.

A Celtic source has told Football Insider that this has alerted a number of clubs in the English Football League and they are assessing him ahead of the next window.

As revealed by Football Insider before Christmas, the teenager had knocked back Celtic's initial contract offer.

He is willing to keep his options open for now, including extending his Hoops stay with a long-term deal.

Mullen has continued to play for the Celtic academy, including in matches in recent weeks against Chelsea and Huddersfield Town.

He yet to make his first-team debut for Celtic, but he has been a regular for the club's reserves and has featured in the UEFA Youth League games in the last couple of seasons.

He is also a Scotland youth international and has been capped by his country nine times at Under-19s level.

Mullen's situation comes at a time when Kristoffer Ajer's agent has dropped the bombshell that his client wants to quit Celtic this summer.

Tore Pederson has suggested it's inevitable the giant centre-back will leave Glasgow over the coming months and revealed he "will not extend his contract".
