Sources: Charlton Athletic lead Sunderland and Oxford in race to sign Cambridge ace Digby
Charlton Athletic, Sunderland and Oxford United are chasing Cambridge midfielder Paul Digby, Football Insider can reveal.
He is out of contract next month and has rejected two offers of a new deal.
A source has told Football Insider the League One trio are keeping close tabs on Digby and Charlton are currently the frontrunners to sign him on a free.
The defensive midfielder was outstanding as Cambridge won promotion from League Two.
His data was among the best for players in his position in League Two this season.
The 26-year-old played 41 times across all competitions, including 35 League Two appearances.

Cambridge finished second in the division with the fourth-best defence as they conceded just 49 goals.
Charlton Athletic, Sunderland and Oxford United will all be aiming to earn promotion from League One next season.
Sunderland and Oxford were beaten in the play-off semi-finals by Lincoln City and Blackpool respectively who will now each other in the final this weekend.
