Sources: Chelsea submit Manuel Ugarte offer - five year deal on the table

Chelsea have offered a contract to Sporting Lisbon midfielder Manuel Ugarte as they look to beat PSG and other Premier League sides to his signature, sources have told Football Insider.

There are no concerns over personal terms being agreed with the London side already promising a long term deal, likely until 2028, for the wanted man.

The 22-year-old has been scouted on multiple occasions across the season and has now been identified as a key target for Mauricio Pochettino this summer.

Like most clubs Chelsea have begun their work for summer with Ugarte joining Romeo Lavia as a deal that is advancing.

Chelsea will have a huge summer ahead with massive movement in and out of the club should all go to plan for Pochettino and his recruitment team.

The Blues have made it known to Sporting they are prepared to match PSG by paying the £52 million pound release clause for the Uruguay international.

The club can also have confidence as Ugarte is keen to move to the Premier League and play in what he considers the best league in world football.

Talks will continue over the next week and are expected to move quickly as both PSG and Chelsea try to land their target before the likes of Newcastle also move in.

Pochettino is set to officially start as Chelsea’s new manager for another couple of weeks but its understood that he is keen to have some targets secured as early as possible.

Manuel Ugarte made a total of 47 appearances for Sporting Lisbon this season, playing 3574 minuets of football and been key to his side. he has also been capped 8 times by his country at senior level.
