Lyon are set to keep close tabs on Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard this season, Football Insider understands.
The French big hitters have set their sights on the French striker, 21, after his blistering start to the season highlighted his continued development at Parkhead.
A French source has told Football Insider that Lyon’s recruitment team are planning regular transfer missions to keep checks on Edouard as they look to the possibility of taking him back to France.
Edouard is in his third season at Celtic after initially signing in the summer of 2017 on loan from Paris Saint-Germain.
That deal was made permanent last year for a club-record fee of £9million and the France Under-21 international has established himself as the first choice striker in Neil Lennon’s side.
Lyon, who finished third in last seasons’s Ligue 1 after signing Moussa Dembele for £19million from Celtic, will extensively scout the versatile attacker to check if he can regularly reach the level needed to play in their team in the future.
Edouard has already scored six goals from 11 matches this season, including the first in last weekend’s 2-0 Old Firm win over Rangers at Ibrox.
It lifted his tally for Celtic to 39 goals from 92 matches, which have also been supplemented by 17 assists.
