Ross County have reached an agreement to sign Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Joe Hilton, Football Insider understands.
There has been speculation over a potential move north of the border for the 21-year-old.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider the terms of a loan running until the end of the season have been agreed.
It is expected Ross County will soon announce the deal.
The Staggies are in the market for a new shot-stopper after Celtic recalled Ross Doohan from his loan spell earlier this month.
Doohan had struggled for game time at County with Ross Laidlaw preferred as first-choice.
Hilton is now set to challenge the 28-year-old after completing a spell at Fleetwood Town.
The Everton academy graduate moved to Fleetwood on an emergency seven-day loan earlier this month.
He finished his brief spell at Highbury with three appearances in which he conceded seven goals.
It was the Englishman’s first taste of the professional game having been limited to Under-23s football for Rovers and Everton.
The 6ft 6in stopper has kept seven clean sheets in 24 games in Premier League 2.
He is now set to challenge himself north of the border and help Ross County in their bid for survival.
After their 5-0 loss to Rangers on Saturday, County are now just one point above the bottom two Hamilton Academical and Motherwell.
Both sides have three games in hand over Ross County.
