Sources: Cook undergoing Nottingham Forest medical today after Bournemouth deal agreed

Bournemouth defender Steve Cook is set to undergo a Nottingham Forest medical on Monday, Football Insider understands.

The Championship big guns have won the race to land the 30-year-old after beating off interest from rivals QPR.

A Forest source has told Football Insider that they have agreed a deal with Bournemouth for Cook and he has been granted permission to undergo a medical on Monday.

The centre-half will then put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half year contract at the City Ground.

Premier League sides Watford and Newcastle were also linked with a move for Cook.

His contract at the Vitality Stadium was set to expire at the end of this season.

Cook has fallen down the pecking order at Bournemouth this term and has made just four appearances across all competitions.

Lloyd Kelly and Gary Cahill are Scott Parker’s preferred partnership at the back.

A move to Nottingham Forest will bring an end to Cook’s 10-year association with the Cherries.

The Englishman was an instrumental part of a Bournemouth side which spent five seasons in the Premier League under Eddie Howe.

Cook is set to become Steve Cooper’s second signing of the window.

Forest announced the loan capture of Aston Villa striker Keinan Davis on Saturday.

Football Insider understands (1 January) that the club are also in talks with Leeds United over a loan deal for young full-back Cody Drameh.
