Sources: Crystal Palace set sights on Everton star after Davies talks update
Crystal Palace are keeping tabs on Everton midfielder Tom Davies amid uncertainty over his future, Football Insider understands.
The Goodison academy product is a big fans favourite after graduating from the youth team but has not started a Premier League match under Rafael Benitez.
A Palace source has told Football Insider that Davies is on their radar going into next year and his situation at Everton will be monitored.
Intriguingly, Davies is out of contract in the summer of 2023 and there has been no progress in talks over an extension.
He started less than half of Everton’s Premier League matches last season and has slipped even further down the pecking order under Benitez.
Palace signed two central midfielders during a summer of extensive recruitment.
Will Hughes joined from Watford for around £6million and Conor Gallagher was a loan signing from Chelsea.
Hughes has yet to make his Palace debut but Gallagher has made a big impression since his temporary arrival.
However, he is due to return to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season and that means Palace will be in the market for a new midfielder.
Davies made 17 Premier League starts among 30 appearances in all competitions last season.
He has made two brief substitute appearances in the league this term, with his only two starts coming in the EFL Cup against Championship duo Huddersfield Town and QPR.
